EL PLAN.
El 27 de julio por la noche partimos de Lima a Moquegua en bus con Vicente Jacinto Toledo Mamani. De Moquegua a Sijuaya todos nos embarcamos en combi, son como 5 horas de viaje, Vicente Jacinto Toledo Mamani y una persona que lo acompañe harán todo el viaje en combi hasta Sijuaya. Los bikers nos bajamos en la ruta para hacer el Descenso en Bici al Centro de la Tierra hasta llegar a Sijuaya donde alcanzaremos a Vicente Jacinto Toledo Mamani.
Nos quedamos aquí uno o dos días para ayudar a Vicente Jacinto Toledo Mamani con sus trámites y para que se establezca con su familia.
Visitaremos los geysers que hay en esta región volcánica y otros lugares interesantes. Una vez terminadas las gestiones emprenderemos el regreso a Moquegua desde Sijuaya por trocha carrozable hacia Quinistaquillas a 1900 MSNM Quinistaquillas es un distrio que queda en Moquegua (full camarones pisco y vino). Luego siguen 135 Kms de trocha de subidas y bajadas hasta Otora, de Otora se trepa 6 Kms hacia el Cruce Omate- Torata, 7 kms más a Torata por asfaltado y luego 23 Kms de trocha a Moquegua por Yacango por la ladera del Cerro Baul y Cerro los Angeles... y de ahí el 31 de Julio volveremos a nuestra vida real anterior en Lima, o si prefieres cambiar de vida no regreses...

El domingo 22 de julio comprarremos los boletos de bus Lima . Mokewa.

Cada uno corre con sus gastos personales: transporte, hospedaje, alimentación, etc.

BIKING DOWN TO THE CENTER OF EARTH

TRIP PLAN

On July 27th evening departure from Lima to Moquegua by bus with Vicente Jacinto Toledo Mamani (if you don’t know his story ask for it info@cicloturismoperu.com ).
From Moquegua to Sijuaya the group will take a minibus for some 5 hours drive, Vicente Jacinto Toledo Mamani and a companion will go all the way up to Sijuaya on the car. The bikers will drop off the car on the way to make the ride down to the center of Earth till Sijuaya to meet Vicente Jacinto Toledo Mamani.

Will stay here a couple of days to help Vicente Jacinto Toledo Mamani complete his paperwork and to set himself with his family after those 60 years living away.

Will visit the geysers existing in this volcanic area and some other interesting places around. As soon as the paperwork is finished the return to Moquegua from Sijuaya by dirt road to Quinistaquillas (1900 masl) a nice fresh water shrimps, wine and pisco producing town. Following 135k up and downs to Otora, then a 6km climb to Cruce Omate-Torata.  7k more to Torata on paved road followed by 23k dirt road to Moquegua via Yacango on Cerro Baul and Cerro Angeles hill sides… from there return by bus back to our real life in Lima, or if you decide to change your life just don´t get back…

On Sunday July 22nd is the Lima – Moquegua bus tickets purchase.

Each one goes on his/her own personal expenses: transport, food, accommodation, etc.

Estimated cost: S/400 – S/500

There are good chances of getting some facilities, support and free food and accommodation thanks to some enquiries addressed to the local major still in process –not confirmed yet.

Day 1.  Bus trip Lima-Pisco. Bike ride following the secret trail discovered on our previous expedition  leading to the hidden geoglyphs site. Camp.

Day 2.  Breakfast. Full day cycling through the desert toward Laguna Grande fishermen vilage. Rest stop at Laguna Grande, seafood dinner and overnight in camp or in a local fishermen shack.

Day 3. Breakfast. After resupply hydration fluid the cycling continues northward through the desert along the coast line up to Lagunillas for a great seafood lunch at legendary Tía Fela's. The day ends at Paracas to rest and stay overnight in a hotel with a nice sea view.

Day 4. Breakfast. Relax day either at the beach or optional Ballestas Islands boat trip. Afternoon return by bus to Lima

Descripción del viaje.
Día 1.  Viaje en bus Lima - Pisco. Recorrido en bici por el sendero que descubrimos en la expedición anterior hasta llegar al lugar de los geoglifos ocultos entre las dunas de arena. Campamento.

Día 2.  Desayuno. Partimos muy temprano y todo el día haremos el recorrido en bici a través del desierto hacia la caleta de pescadores Laguna Grande, aquí descansamos, cenamos y pasamos la noche en campamento o en una casa de una familia de pescadores.

Día 3.  Desayuno. Después de reabastecernos de rehidratante reiniciamos la marcha rumbo norte .  El viaje por el desierto ahora sigue la línea de la costa hasta Lagunillas. Tomaremos un delicioso almuerzo marino en el legendario restaurant de la Tía Fela.  Pasamos la noche en Paracas en un hotel frente a la bahía.

Día 4. Desayuno. Relax y día de playa. Opcional un paseo en lancha a las Islas Ballestas. Retorno a Lima en  bus.

NUEVA RUTA DE EXPLORACIÓN CTP: 

El encuentro con el huaca. 

Hace tiempo ya, en Marzo del 2008, estudiando la literatura sobre caminos ancestrales hallamos una breve relación o derrotero de lo que sería el tramo del Qhapaq Ñan de la costa que une los valles de Cañete y Chincha. Chekeo en Google Earth, hummm… se ve medio borroso, pero puede ser.  Trazo y traslado de datos y coordinadas al GPS. Convocatoria para hacer el trip. Partimos cuatro bikers amantes de las aventuras con sustancia, es decir trips enriquecidos con etnohistoria, leyendas, arqueología, etc.

En el campo la cosa fue diferente y no pudimos hallar la entrada al camino, cerros de arena fueron barreras insalvables.  Expedición abortada. Ruta archivada como Cansacaballo.

El otro día yendo a Lunahuaná el “huaca” de ese camino ancestral nos salió al encuentro y nos dijo que él había hecho esa ruta hasta Topará en su bici, una antigua y desvencijada montañera que usa a diario para trasladarse entre la chacras. Y que sí podría guiarnos cualquier día. … “pero es medio bravo ah?... hay que bajar el aire de las llantas sino se hunden en la arena, ...pero más adelante se pone duro por el huayco que bajó hace tiempo, pero también hay espinas por los cardos que el huayco arrastró desde arriba…

DURACION: No sabemos exactamente, depende del camino y cuanto avancemos. Según el "taytacha" el lo hizo en 3 - 4 horas. Puede ser...

Salimos el sábado 24 a las 3pm en bus hasta Cañate. Cletamos hasta la pascana que el Club CTP tiene en Concon, ahí dormimos. El domingo antes de la salida del sol partimos hacia Topará.

Retorno a Lima el domingo por la tarde en bus desde Chincha
El guía local está confirmado. entre todos haremos una bolsa para pagar sus servicios.

NEW ROUTE TO EXPLORE -CTP ADVENTURE CYCLING TRIP:
Topará, the lost section of the Qhapaq Ñan on the coast between Cañete and Chincha.

March 24th - 25th

Encounter with “huaca”.  It was long ago, on March 2008, while studying the information about ancient roads found a brief hint about what would be the section of Qhapaq Ñan (the ancient inka trail network) on the coast between Cañete and Chincha. Checked on Google Earth, hummm… it was not that clear, but it could be.  Drew the route on the map and transferred the data to the GPS. Made the invitations to go. Departed four bikers avid of  adventure cycling enriched with ethno-history, legend and archaeology.

On the fieLd the thing was different but couldn’t find the trail, big dunes and sandy hills were impossible to pass barriers. Expedition was aborted and archived as Cansacaballo.

Days ago on the way to Lunahuana the “huaca” of that ancient trail encountered us and said he has done that trail on his bike, an old rickety bicycle he daily uses to move around the local farmlands. And accepted to guide us any day… “but it is a bit difficult ah?... is necessary to low tire´s air pressure otherwise they get stuck in the sand, …but further ahead it becomes hard due the mudslide happened time ago, but there are thorns too because the bushes carried by the mudslide from the hills…”

Thanks a lot "taytacha" for inviting to meet you and for not forgetting us. We are going to do this trip anyhow

A local guide will escort us, his service will be paid by all of us

Todo en cleta siguiendo la costa sur de Lima desde Chorrillos, hasta donde lleguemos.
Nada de carretera panamericana respirando tóxico monóxido de carbono y smog vehicular, todo por trocha respirando el aire puro de la brisa del mar y caminos que recorren a veces por tramos largos la linea de la costa, también algunos tramos cortos afirmados y secciones para caminar.
El camino existe, se ve desde el cielo.  Dicen que hay cosas muy interesantes que ver y conocer que nos sorprenderán.

Toda la verdad no está dicha aún...

All the way on bikes following the south Lima coast line from Chorillos as far south as we can reach.

Nothing on the panamericana highway breathing toxic carbon monoxid and motor car fumes, all on dirt road breathing the pure air from the sea breeze and trails some long and others short, with some sections to walk too.

The trail exist, it is visible from the sky.  It is said there are very interesting things to see and learn about that will surprise us.

Un buen motivo, una buena ruta y un buen destino, el reino de los RUNAWANAK ahora convertido en reino del fruto de la vid y del trabajo del hombre que recibe de la generosa naturaleza y que convierte en espirituoso brebaje de bandera peruana para celebrar con orgullo el sabor de lo que el Perú produce.
Partimos de Lima el Sabado 4 Febrero tempranol hasta Cañete. Emprendemos la cletada y llegaremos al atardecer a nuestro destino donde nos esperan una refrescante piscina para coronar la jornada y deliciosos platos para reponer las energías: sopa seca con carapulcra, tacu-tacu y rissotto di camaroni acompañados de los mejores Pisco Sours del Perú y no podía ser de otro modo.

Nos hospedamos en un hotelito bueno, bonito y barato (S/80 la habitación doble) . Con piscina, tranquilo y apartado del bullicio que la celebración pisquera supone habrá en el pueblo.

El domingo por la mañana las opciones son hacer canotaje o explorar en cleta los caminos rurales de la zona. Después del almuerzo emprendemos el retorno a Cañete y de ahí nos embarcamos a Lima.

Las opciones para el traslado Lima – Cañete – Lima son
1. Traslado privado en la CTP Wagon. 10 bikers + cletas.  El vehiculo + chofer + combustible + peajes cuesta en total ida y vuelta S/600 los cuales divididos entre 10 resulta a S/60 cada uno. Si van menos cuesta un poco más por persona.
Sabado 4 febrero
Punto de partida A.  6:30am Parque detrás del Cine Orrantia (cruce de Av. Javier Prado con Av. Arequipa
Punto de partida B. 7:00am Puente Benavides junto a la Universidad Ricardo Palma.
Tambien podemos recoger en cualquier cruce o paradero a lo largo del recorrido: Cine Orrantia – Av. Javier Prado – Trebol – Panamericana Sur – Puente Benavides – etc.  Llamar para coordinar.

2. Traslado en transporte publico, bus Soyuz.  Cuesta S/ 25 pasaje + S/15 flete de bici = S/40 la ida. La vuelta cuesta igual.

A nice trail many times ridden by us.

Moderate level

Sat 28th Biking from Asia to Quilmana along the lomas trail, afternoon arrival Quilmana, overnight at Oscar’s estancia.

Sun 29th Biking to Cerro Azul by the trail on the ravine through the farm lands. This section has not been done before, but it looks very interesting

Afternoon beach and relax session.

This is a very nice ride, waiting for us are delicious sopa seca con carapucra at Oscar’s, home made wine, the Estancia a little house in the praire. Two days living in open pure air, full peace, total relax, beach, fun and good cycling.

There are two options for the transfer Lima - Asia - Quilmaná - Cerro Azul – Lima:

Option 1.

Private transfer on the CTP Wagon –for 10 bikers and bikes, round trip from Lima.  Confortable, good music and cycling equipped: air pump, spare parts, tire repair kit, chain oil, tools and bike racks to take the bikes secured and to avoid scratches.

Departure from site A. 6:30am located on the Little park just behind Cine Orrantia –next to the Javier Prado Ave and Arequipa Ave. crossing.

Departure from site B. 7:00am Puente Benavides –on Benavides Ave. next to Ricardo Palma University

Pick ups from any bus stop or crossing along the way: Cine Orrantia - Javier Prado - Trebol - Panamericana Sur - Puente Benavides - Peaje Villa, etc (call for details)

Cost: S/ 675 soles (vehicle + driver + fuel + tolls) to be splitted by 10 bikers, S/ 67.50 each. If less than 10 people each pays some more.

Return to Lima on the CTP wagon from Cerro Azul

Option 2.

Transfer Lima - Asia - Quilmaná - Cerro Azul – Lima on public transport Soyuz

Departure Jan 28th 6:30am from Soyuz bus station on Mexico Ave block 2

Cost: S/ 20 ticket + S/ 15 bike shipping –one way. Return trip about the same on Jan 29^th at 4pm from Soyuz bus station in Cañete located some 7k from Cerro Azul

BRING:

Bicycle in very good condition (bike rentals available http://www.cicloturismoperu.com/bikerental.htm). Helmet. Tool. Air pump. Spare tube. Tire repair kit. Hydration fluid 4l minimum. Gloves. Sun glasses. Sunblock cream. Insect repellent. Swim suit. Money for transport, accommodation and food.

WE CTP –CICLOTURISMO PERU DON’T CYCLE ON HIGHWAYS, DRIVEWAYS NOR STREETS IN THE CITY, IT IS TOO TOXIC, VERY DANGEROUS DUE THE CARS AND BORING.  CTP GOES BY GOOD, HEALTHY, SAFE AND FUNNY ADVENTURE TRAILS ONLY.
